Do you want to save when you shop on Amazon? Here we reveal the secrets to finding money saving deals.

Deals

There’s regular deals for Prime members and lightning deals across a range of categories. Most people who shop at Amazon are aware of that. If there’s something specific you’re looking out for, then you could keep an eye on the upcoming deals. You can choose to watch a deal and for Prime members there’s access to deals 30 minutes before, if you’re keen to snap up a bargain. And then of course there’s Today’s Deals. You can narrow down by category so if there’s something in particular you’re looking for it helps you to narrow down your choice and see what’s available.

Amazon Outlet

This is Amazon’s largest sales section. Updated regularly across all of the categories, it’s worth coming back to see what they have on offer. Amazon Outlet even has sections for beers, wines and spirits, cars and bikes, musical instruments and DJ and office and stationary supplies.

Free delivery

If you know you’re going to be doing lots of shopping such as before Christmas, you could sign up to Amazon Prime. But remember: if you don’t want to continue with the service you will need to cancel it before the end of the month. Set a reminder for yourself, otherwise it will be a costly mistake.

That being said, Amazon Prime’s 30 day trial period will give you free unlimited one-day delivery in the UK. You’ll also get access to their films, TV shows, a library of ebooks, music and more. Subscriptions are around £79 per year or £7.99 a month.

Amazon Family

Amazon Family is their special offering for, well, families. Their Prime membership includes special deals like 20% off nappies subscriptions and more. You can also create a child profile during signup if you want to receive age-based recommendations. There’s also ‘Fire for Kids Unlimited’. Amazon promote this as an all-in-one subscription for kids that offers unlimited access to thousands of kid-friendly books, videos, educational apps, and games, from £1.99 per month for Prime Members. It says that because there are no ads or in-app purchases, there are no surprises or extra charges.

Amazon Student

For students Amazon do a deal where they offer Prime for six month free, and then at a 50% discount after that. Along with the usual Prime offering, Amazon say they offer special student discounts on top. You either need an .ac.uk email address or you can submit proof of your student status.

 Amazon Prime Day

This will be the third year of Amazon Prime Day which is an annual celebration of Amazon’s birthday. In 2017 deals are going to start from 6pm on Monday 10th July, so if you’re a Prime member, put that date in your calendar.

If you’re not a Prime member you can sign up for a 30 day free trial as we mentioned before. But do remember to cancel within the 30 day period or you will get charged the subscription fee.

Amazon Prime Day is a massive 24-hour sale. Last time there was more than 3,000 products heavily discounted in the UK market. It’s a little like Black Friday only it’s one of the webs biggest stores.

Products from across different categories will be on sale, so if you have a good idea about what you’re needing then you can see if you’re luck is in on the day. Of course, with anything like this you have to be flexible but at least have a budget in mind and stick to it. After all, it can be too easy to get caught up in deal frenzy that you end up spending more than you intended.

Look out also for deals that are released for around a week prior in the run up to Amazon Prime Day. You might pick up some bargains here also (although as always search before you buy to make sure you are getting the best deal.

Amazon Prime Day will start from midnight. New products are then released every hour. Note: the largest deals happen from around 6am through to 10pm – in fact they’re being released every 10 minutes or so. And that’s across all categories – and it could include some of Amazon’s own tech too (such as the Echo and Echo Dot).

One section not to overlook is Amazon’s clearance warehouse. Here they offer heavily discounted deals on returned or damaged goods. It can be a great place to buy an item you want for much less than it would otherwise have cost.
